The Japanese man, a factory worker, was listening to music on his headphones and was completely unaware of the attack that eventually claimed his life.

He is pictured holding his fingers in a peace sign, with London's Tower Bridge in the background, in a photo uploaded in February 2017.

Emergency services first became aware of the horrific incident when the ambulance base in Drogheda received a call at 9am telling them the Japanese man had been stabbed.
