Detectives are now trying to establish a motive for the killing but it’s understood the main theory is that it could be down to Molyneaux’s connections with those suspected of trying to murder criminal Derek “Bottler” Devoy.

Instead, Devoy’s innocent sister Antoinette Corbally-Devoy, 47, and 30-year-old Clinton Shannon, also innocent, were shot dead when two gunmen stormed through the mother-of-six’s house in Ballymun last August.

Gardai believe Molyneaux may have been the gunman who killed “Bottler” Devoy’s brother Michael “Mad Mickey” Devoy four years ago.

Another theory is that Molyneaux was murdered by the ruthless Kinahan cartel over his connections with the Hutch gang. If that is the case, it makes him the 15th victim of the bloody feud.
