The Irish Sun, A News Ireland Company. WEATHER chiefs have issued a wind warning for seven counties today as gusts are set to hit 65 km /h. Met Eireann say it is in place in Donegal, Galway, Mayo, Clare, Cork, Kerry and Limerick.

The Status Yellow alert for wind is in place for the entire country until 8am.

Warning what is to come, a forecaster said: "Southerly winds will reach mean speeds of 50 to 60 km/hr with gusts of 90 to 100km/hr.

"The strongest winds will be in coastal areas."

The windy conditions will continue throughout the day, coupled with widespread and heavy rain.

Temperatures meanwhile will rise to a very mild 12C before dropping again after dark.

There will be some showers tonight which could turn wintry away from Atlantic coasts.

Talking about tomorrow's weather, Met Eireann wrote on their website: "Tomorrow Thursday, will be a cold, blustery day, but bright, with sunny spells and scattered showers.

MET Eireann has issued an orange weather warning as Storm Dylan is set to arrive in Ireland tomorrow. There’s also a wind warning in place for today – with gusts of up to 110 km /h expected.

A YELLOW wind warning has been issued as gales of up to 100 km per hour are set to batter Ireland today. And Met Eireann forecaster Joanna Donnelly took to social media this morning and told followers: “Get your #running in real early, it’s going to be a b*tch of a day.”

"Most of the showers will be of rain, hail or sleet, but a few snow showers are likely, mainly inland in the morning and over high ground during the day.

"Maximum temperatures 5 to 7 Celsius, in fresh to strong southwesterly winds."

Giving their outlook for the remainder of the week, a forecaster said: "Changeable weather overall, but becoming relatively mild over the weekend.

"Early indications are for a settled spell of weather next week."
