Two men armed with a hand gun and an iron bar went into the shop and threatened staff before leaving with cash. The man is being held at Trim Garda Station. Gardaí say the investigation is ongoing.

A man threatened staff at an Ennis shop with what appeared to be a firearm last week. The man was originally picked up by gardaí earlier on today. A file is now being prepared for the DPP in relation to the matter. It comes after a man wearing a Guy Fawkes-type mask entered a shop on the Kilrush

a tall red brick building © Google Maps A man has been charged in connection with an attempted robbery at a shop in Phibsborough on Thursday morning.

At approximately 12.35pm on the 10th May a man allegedly walked into a premises on Berkeley Road and allegedly produced a gun from a bag before threatening staff and demanding cash from staff.

The man then allegedly left the premises without any cash.

Gardaí arrested a man close by in connection with the robbery and he was brought to Mountjoy Garda station where he was detained for questioning.

On Friday morning Gardaí charged a male, 44, in connection with the incident, he will appear before Ct. No 1 CCJ Parkgate St at 10.30am this morning the 11th May 2018.

A garda spokesperson said: "Witnesses to the incident are asked to contact Mountjoy Garda station on 01 6668600, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station. "
