He was also charged with having five rounds of ammunition on Saturday at Charlemont Parade, North Dublin.

Det Enda Gormley told Judge Bernadette Owens that Beatty was charged at Mountjoy Garda station at 6.38pm on Sunday.

He said the defendant was cautioned and “made no reply” when charged.

He was remanded in custody to appear again tomorrow at Cloverhill District Court.

A second man arrested when gardai stopped a car in the East Wall area of Dublin on Saturday has been released without charge.

A file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
