GARDAÍ AND CRIMESTOPPERS have launched an appeal for information in relation to the death of a man in Swinford, Co Mayo last August. In an appeal on RTÉ’s Crimecall tonight, Joe’s father Adrian described his son as a very popular young man.

Jeffrey Hannan (19), who was not involved in crime, was found in a green area of O'Malley Park in Southill, Limerick at around 10.40am on November 22 2007.

He had multiple injuries to his head and upper body, it is understood that he had been beaten with an axe and left to die.

Crimestoppers today issued a fresh appeal for information about the death of Jeffrey, who had two young daughters.

We are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

CRIMESTOPPERS HAS TODAY launched an appeal for information in relation to a hit-and-run collision which left a young man dead in Monaghan in 2011.

“Jeffrey’s family is asking people to consider providing even the smallest piece of information, which may seem insignificant.

“They also hope that a person who has intimate knowledge of the crime may now volunteer this information with the passage of time.”

There is also a reward available for information which significantly helps the probe.

Jeffrey's father Alan has tirelessly campaigned for justice for his son, despite being subjected to a campaign of intimidation.

He previously told Independent.ie: “I won’t stop fighting until the people that did this to Jeffrey are behind bars. I know that the gardaí are serious about that as well.”#

'It's so hard to come to terms with' - community left 'devastated' after man (32) killed in hit-and-run .
The Longford community has been left "devastated" following the death of a 32-year-old man in a suspected hit-and-run near Newtownforbes on Friday night. The man, named locally as Craig McDermott, was struck by a vehicle while walking on the N4 at Deerpark near Newtownforbes. The vehicle failed to stop and continued in the direction of Newtownforbes.He was treated at the scene by a paramedic and taken to the Midlands Regional Hospital in Mullingar by ambulance but was pronounced dead in the hospital.A friend of Craig's has described him as one of the "funniest, craziest best friends anyone could have".
