Bed crisis in Irish hospitals has doubled in the past ten years

Bed crisis in Irish hospitals has doubled in the past ten years Over 9,000 patients were forced to lie on trolleys last month .The grim figure also includes 92 children waiting for a proper bed in three of Dublin’s children’s hospitals. The figure comes after numerous reports in 2018 that hospitals are struggling to accommodate patients due to a nationwide bed shortage. The Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation reported that a total of 9,021 patients were unable to receive hospital beds in May - a record for that month - with University Hospital Limerick and Cork University Hospital experiencing the biggest scarcity.

These are the two main reasons people travel more frequently than ever before . It is evident that busier workdays and the hectic lifestyle can easily drain one out. So my hard day at work in the hospital suddenly does not seem so bad for me at all.

Obviously anytime that you don’t have to go to a hospital is a good thing, but this is true today more than ever before . Hospitals and their waiting rooms are full of sick people , no surprise there , but some of them have infectious, airborne diseases or viruses.

There has been a slight reduction in the number of inpatients and day case procedures, continuing a trend that has emerged in recent months. May’s figures show a total of 78,596 people waiting, down from 79,414 in April and 80,058 in March.
